Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

All of this looks wrong to me, but expect to see the usual suspects clinging to comments from the Italian FA's version of Marie Antoinette.

Thinking about it, wtf why were all English clubs banned for the kin RS being murdering knob heads? Ruined a quarter of our history as we've been utter chit since.
Yes it did, but England as a whole had a very significant hooligan problem in the 80s, Everton included.
Nothing near as bad as what the rs did, but it wasn't called the english disease for nothing

Saw this online, made me laugh.

Because a bat out of hell
Will take the prem when the morning comes.
When the night is over
Just like the prem trophy
I'll be gone-gone-gone.
But when the day is done, and were in lockown,
And the Blue Moon song is through,
Then like a sinner before the gates of Goodison,
I'll come crying on back to you

It’s only early April. UEFA have left the door open to football going all the way into August. We could we’ll see football in July occurring if the virus peaks and then recedes over the next 6 weeks or so.

Thanks mate. I know we were not without our problems, but if it wasn't for them the ban wouldn't have been handed out. Jesus, I feel sorry for those like myself born in the mid-80s who were too young to see the best era in our history and have had one measly FA Cup win to show for 35 years of support. That'll equate to another domestic cup before my life is over and that's it - unless this stadium can turn around our future. Kin sake.

This will not happen.

I don't think it will although if it doesn't happen in Germany there's literally no chance of it anywhere else as they're the last effected easily of the major european leagues.

I think we could see teams who benefit from it being cancelled, maybe teams are near the bottom etc set a bit of a precedent here.

It'll be interesting to see if they start claiming players and there families are affected still so they don't have to come back and se what happens then.

For me, it will only take 1 club to refuse to play for H&S reasons and I don't see what any league could do about it. It would blow the whole competition to bits and it would be impossible to punish a club for prioritising health in the middle of a global pandemic.

Didn't help that the bosses at uefa at the time and our own 'kin prime minister were desperate to not have English teams in European competition.

Im not saying I believe they are trying tp gain the moral high ground, im saying what the statement says makes sense.

If players take a pay cut, the owners save money and less tax is paid. Liverpool have just furloughed all their non paying staff so if their players take a 30% cut, who gains?
No the furloughed staff as they are not being paid bt the club, not the Government as the taxes have decreased. The only people who benwfit from a wage reduction is owners.

Now the players may need to take a reduction to offset losses from match day revenue or tv rights etc but the 30% reduction has nothing to do with helping the NHS make more money.

They would be better making a statement stating that they want the full pay but will donate X amount of money per month across the PL. Thats divided between money to NHS and staff of lower league clubs

The problem I have with this view is the government is paying (most) of the wages of the furloughed staff so 1. They're not really paying tax as government is paying it and 2. Money that could be spent by the government on the NHS is out the window.

So to keep the maths simple if an employee gets a gross £2000 then the Government is paying out £1600 and will get a small portion back in deductions. If the players/coaches took a pay cut that enabled clubs to pay non-playing staff that would be saving the government paying out that money and they would be getting the full tax from these employees, start multiplying that by 10/20/30 etc. per club and that will start helping the 'NHS' too.

It is the greed where the players think they are being singled out for being some of the highest paid people in the country...erm that is why you are being singled out! I'm sure company owners are going to lose money and businesses in all of this but they don't have to worry about keeping staff safe, trying to run a business from home with all the stress in the world. The players are technically furloughed as they can't do squat about their jobs bar from work out in their home gyms whilst they pocket 100% of massive wages.

They could take the pay cut and still donate money to the NHS, care homes etc. Or pressure their clubs to not make redundancies or furlough staff. That they are resisting just shows the gall of these people, Hall & Oates wrote a song about this...Out of Touch.
