Roberto Martinez hopes Saturday's electric derby atmosphere will continue into this weekend's Goodison Park clash.

Martinez's Blues entertain Stoke on Saturday after a high octane 3-3 draw with Liverpool last time out.

The Evertonians in the stands were even more vociferous than usual and the manager wants more of the same when the newly refocused Potters arrive.

"The way the fans created such an atmosphere [in the derby] was something to be very proud of," Martinez told evertontv.

"Stoke are a team who have maintained a real threat in dead-ball situations. On top of that they try to get on the ball now, they have had less results than they have deserved and the table doesn't reflect their new mentality.

"It is fair to say we have been very consistent from the start of the season. We want to win every game but it is also possible to play well and not take the three points.

"In many ways the last three draws we have had, we have been for major parts of the game the better team."

Blues supporters have been giving their assessments of Saturday's Goodison atmosphere as well.

John Corcoran: Awesome on Saturday me and my son got into the ground at 2:50 and the gwladys was roaring what a game for his 1st derby!

Chris Gregory: Fantastic atmosphere, so proud of the boys, they really are going from strength to strength, coyb

Sim: Genuinely haven't experienced an atmosphere like Saturday before, the Park End was rocking!

Paul: Amazing atmosphere at Goodison on Saturday, was in my seat in lower Gwladys, and was jumping for the full 90 mins

Joe Bennett: There won't be another game in the BPL quite like that this season #fact

Peter Jones: Unbelievable, once again the Goodison crowd fail to let us down! Best fans in the world!

Dan: First Merseyside derby and a game I'll never forget, atmosphere was unbelievable, especially when Lukaku made it 3-2

Glynn Parry: Unreal, allez allez ohhh!

Rich Cusack: Not a blue but was at the game with a couple of Evertonians. Fantastic atmosphere and wish all grounds were like that

Do you think we will create that type of special atmosphere again for Stoke? Me personally, I don't think so. I don't think many games this season will carry atmosphere like the derby, the next one probably being Man Utd in April which will only come close to that.
It would be great if the atmosphere was like that every home game, it really should be because I believe when the crowd is like that we are the twelfth man. We should always be behind the team like that creating a constant wall of noise. Imagine how many teams would be beat mentally before kick off. I think it's important for us as fans to keep doing this, we can make Goodison the hardest place to come and we could really push the team up the table.

I know it's gonna be quiet on Saturday, it's always the way when we play lesser sides but everybody enjoyed the atmosphere so why not carry it on? Too many people complain and say our fans were quiet, our fans were sh1t. Well help to do something about it and carry on what we've started.

Roberto loved it, he urges us to keep this going, the team thrive under it. Lukaku says he's never experienced anything like it, neither has Deulofeu.

What do you think?

It's understandable that the atmosphere won't be as good. With the derby everyone is way more concerned about the result, a lot more angry when we concede or one of our players are fouled. No team in the league is capable of a great atmosphere every week really. Not paid much attention to Palace but i've heard people raving about them but other than them, no one can do it week in week out.

I still think we could do better for these types of games though. I think the crowd might be less than 35k on Saturday as well.

If Everton play in an equally exhilarating fashion as the Derby game, then there will be exhilaration engendered in the home crowd. Exhilaration = atmosphere. Thus, it is really up to the players to create the atmosphere.

No chance of the atmosphere being anywhere near as good as the derby but what do you expect, we're playing Stoke and although I haven't seen them play this season they're football is usually dull and boring and drains the life out of you and the atmosphere is usually about as good as their style of play.

I think we're on he verge of giving someone a drubbbing man city style, hopefully that will be against hughes on saturday

Personally i think the atmosphere most weeks at the old lady is terrible. I have been to enough games to hear the 'you only sing when your winning' song from the away end. other than that the same few songs, some of which (grand old team) seem to just trail off and all in all too long a period with noone even singing.

Goodison under the lights against a united/liverpool etcs type of team is magical. Many memories of great games with great atmospheres, but most weeks it simply isnt good enough, and we are all to blame for that.

maybe they should print on the tickets and merchandise some phase about fans cheering and points gained in order to hammer it home to the fans in the stand. Only been to 4 matches myself so cant really offer an opinion on the fans atmosphere throughout the whole season but if we can realise that by creating an atmosphere for 38 games it will be our contribution to gaining an extra amount of points per campaign, when the stadium is rocking there is nowhere else like it , we owe it to ourselves and the team to be the best we can and gain any advantage we can. Every match should be a cup final so to speak and because it is such a joy to watch everton play live. I hear stories that the away support is brilliant so we need to harness that somehow for the home games against the lesser sides, we always want our team to win so we should play our part, the atmosphere should be about the 3 points we our going for rather than who we playing against. Lets change the mentality. COYB IMWT NSNO

People enjoy the match in different ways mate

I've been thinking of moving to the Gwladys to be honest as I see most of the peeps in there like a chant now and then

Top post.

If everyone that moans about the atmosphere ( who normally sit in the Main Stand / Bullens etc ) went and sat with people who like a sing ( ie the Lower Gwladys ) went and sat / stood with liked minded folk then a lot of the poor atmosphere / singing sections / standing sections issues would just melt away.

Granted if you go to the match on a regular basis with people / kids who don't want to sit in the Lower Gwladys then this isn't possible but basically if you want to sing but feel shy cos you're sat with some quiet people then shift your arse somewhere else.

Woolly wins the internet

I know we touch on atmosphere a lot on here and we know Everton have the best fans in the league, that goes without saying. I generally think many people at the match want to watch the match, it would be sh1t if we were like Palace because although they put everything into it, they aren't making Selhurst Park a feared stadium but there's something about Goodison that makes it hostile and unfriendly to visitors. U don't know what it is but you can just sense it.
