Can we beat seventy two points ?

No, we would need 23 from 27 available points - with games against United, Liverpool and Chelsea

That's just not going to happen, but if we finish with over 65 points and European qualification I think Koeman has had a pretty good first season on the whole

72 points is irrelevant though...that's relative to the strength of the league in the given season.

The main question is, will we finish better than 7 points off 4th place? I don't think that's out of the question at all.

The remaining games are :

RS.....................away.
Man U ...............away.
Leicester ........... home.
Burnley.............. home.
West Ham.......... away.
Chelsea............. home.
Swansea .......... away.
Watford .............home.
Arsenal ............. away.

It's a no from me.

@davek ?
In theory yes - In practice anything over 60 is do-able and anything over 65 is a bonus

10 points from our home games. 5 from the aways. Good solid first season under Koeman. Get players in in the summer early doors, show Lukaku and Ross we mean business with some proper belter signings and have a real go for top four next year.

Oddly enough I have just been totting up the probable points, based on current form, of the rs, Arsenal, Manure and ourselves. I figure we'll have 71 points, same as the rs, but we'll pip them for 4th on GD. Then Arsenal on 68 and manure on 67.
Our form against anyone above away from home isn't that good. We've beat city and Arsenal at home. Picked up three other points against top 4 rivals.
If we beat Liverpool or Man U it will be a big surprise.

For a non-financial elite/doped club it takes a very special set of circumstances to reach 70 odd points. You have to have an approach to playing all games with attack first and foremost in mind and you have to have a manager who twists rather than sticks in close games petering out into draws. And you have to have an attacking unit that are ALL really on their game consistently.

None of that applies this season.

Until we get hundreds of millions spent on our squad we wont get over 70 points again, imo.
