Can the damage be repaired ?

west ham fan in teamtalk said quite well though:

"Your 6th,in the cup, and discussing getting a new manager in..are you all nutz or what."

That's a good post Timak (as usual), but it does point to an illogical conclusion - that we need to keep Moyes FOREVER!

This is not possible. Clearly we will need to change the manager at some point and just face up to the uncertainties in doing that - grasp the old nettle and give it a tug.

This is right. It was indeed a good post and I would never do anything other than fully acknowledge and be forever grateful for all Moyes has done for us. He's quite simply turned Everton around. I remember the bad old days. But that doesn't mean he should be here forever.

In sport you can make decisive moves at the right time, however weird it might seem, rather than letting things stagnate and dry up and leave people wishing the change had come 5 years earlier. I think we should be brave and do that.

Agreed (not just with the good post bit :) ) - the board need to put into place a proper structure so that we aren't so reliant on just one man. That means a proper set up with a head coach rather than a manager and a permanent coaches, scouts at all other levels of the club.

Can't see our disinterested board having anything to do with this though which means keeping Moyes until the board goes.

Do you mean if he goes ? Because clearly they haven't planned nor even thought for the future up to know as far as I can see . If anything it sums up everton and those that run it , cross your fingers and hope for the best.

This is my issue and the worry about changing manager, if we pick a Mike Walker type replacement we will be screwed

What clubs do plan though I suppose ?

In these threads things seem so polarised , the board seem miles from competent but that doesn't mean moyes is the messiah and irreplaceable . I actually think for the 'memory ' of moyes this might not be the worst thing as he was (I believe) under the impression that because of their relationship kenwright wouldn't have stood in his way if a club had come in for him (compensation etc..) but i think he could have been very mistaken and if an offer had been made it could have been really really messy.

I think he's made a right mess of this and I've lost a bit of faith in him, I'm actually thinking it may be best for both parties if we have a change.

Sheeds the owner and Moyes have been thick as theives since day 1 no reason to oubt it now on these issues. Clearly the owner is not intrested in the thoughts of those who think it should be handled another way. I mean MR Everton does things the way he thinks they should be done.

I'm presuming there will be a few quid in the coffers at the end of the season...T.V deal, sale of Felliani and Baines (They will go!!)

Is Moyes waiting to see how much he will have to spend?? There must be 20 odd million to spend SURELY.....

I alluded to this earlier but it's quite probable Moyes has a "horses for courses" approach and the tactics he employs at Everton might not be the same as those he would employ elsewhere. Not saying he's going to morph into Rinus Michels and revolutionize the game but he could well look very different at a different team.

"The future belongs to the risk takers - not the security seekers. The more you seek security , the less of it you will have and the more you persue opportunity , the more security you will acheive." - BRIAN TRACEY Now David Moyes can put that in his pipe and smoke it !
Everton = Security; Chelsea = Big Risk?

other ideas that spring to mind : Nothing ventured - nothing gained . Fortune favours the brave . Courage is the father of success. All saying the same thing just differently - something David Moyes also does not agree with .
A lot of people are mad at him (in part) for thinking he could get a job at a CL club (which many fans dismiss as highly unlikely) and not re-upping with us. However if he thinks he has a real chance at that level it appears he might have more courage in his convictions than you give him credit for.

Staying at Everton could be seen as the safe and secure route; moving to a high pressure, high expectation CL club is the risk taking courageous approach.

I just don't think he'll have the same drive or enthusiasm, and if a better offer comes along mid season, he'll be off. I only want someone who want's to be here.
... but the real question is: will we want anyone who wants to be here?

Why would Moyes stay if we sold Fellaini and Baines and then they gave him 20 million to spend? I have great faith in Moyes' transfer acumen but he isn't going to make a team which loses the best LB in the world and an international class midfielder better than before with 20m pounds.

Best left back in the world?

Baines is good but don't kid yourself.

As for Moyes, not one of his acolytes round these parts ever explain just exactly where he is going when he leaves EFC.

I am willing to bet anyone a sporting quid none of the teams above us will be hiring him.

I can't see him going to Anfield.

So where might he be going now that he has outgrown Everton Football Club?

He'll go to a club that has a transfer budget, even if below us.. it just makes for an easier life, if in England they'll be above us within a couple of seasons anyway.
Can you tell me who you thinks coming in to save us from this punching above our weight we keep doing?

I don't even know what that means or how you can make that judgement :)

The other thing is Baines is much better when is is attacking than when he is defending.

He isn't even the best defender at left back in England, let alone the world.

That is still Cole, IMO

i used to but i changed but when my fav ronaldo left

now that says a lot .. and you've clocked up 9.5 mill in frequent flyer miles (or whatever they are). I've supported Everton since before I can remember, there has never been anyone else nor should there have been. What next Cristiano comes back to OT will you switch alliegance back ? Rooney even plays for the them yet he never relly changed alliegance.

Moyes has become incredibly under-rated here by a few fans, and only when he's gone will those who want change realize what we have got. I have no doubt moyes waiting on the contract is for the better benifit of us the fans, the players and himself.

I imagine he knows and has accepted that Fellaini will be going in the summer. I'm also sure he's fully confident he can bring in 3 quality players with that money. He's also sure to be aware there's a big influx of TV money coming in. On top of all this he's not sure what compitition's were gonna be in or not in next season...

There's a lot to be decided yet on the pitch and off it. He'll want to know what he's signing up for before he does. This summer really could be the 1 time moyes has a war chest to really push us on and build an actual squad not just a team. If the board are saying there's only a small amount of money despite the potential windfall...Well I couldn't really blame him for wanting something new tbh.
