As I recall, this exercise was a social experiment started by Cambridge University about 15 years ago on their own intranet.
The idea was to monitor social interaction of strangers in a team building situation. The view was that in a moderate and unconditioned society, enough people would come together and ensure the success of a simple counting exercise.

The studies were mostly successful in identifying that the students who would halt the counting, would be the lower achievers.
Probably the same people who voted for Boaty McBoatface!


Anyway, years later it comes to GOT and here we are. A banter-fest designed to hurl insults at each other without repercussion!
