Calm down

I think people give so much patience to transition and building. There needs to come a point where whatever is being built starts to deliver the fruits of that labour, it allows people to invest in it and give a little more patience as they see it's making actual progress.

Think the fanbase are at that point now I reckon. The new ownership will accelerate that process in terms of demanding tangible results of providing money to complete it.

Interesting end of the season to come.

Fair play for sticking your neck out.

I like your optimism, and I hope you're right. I'm afraid I just don't see it though. For a long time I saw it the way you do, that just one or two tweaks and a bit of luck would see us right up there, but this is way more than a blip now. For almost two full years, we have been unable to get any sort of consistency together. I know some people look at individual games and say 'if this and but that', but my concerns run a lot deeper than that. I honestly don't think we're going in the right direction anymore, and I've lost faith in his ability to turn it around.

I think the Stones incident is a decent analogy for Martinez's style in general. Looks great when it comes off, but you look like an idiot when it doesn't, and the more you do the same thing, the more people will no what to expect, and the less often it will work.

Not convinced the players even want him there and/or enjoy the style of play. This horse has run its race... with the FA cup its last rodeo

This is BS. Bilic and Hughes have been perfect examples this season. Both have talented players, but when they've needed to, through injuries or poor form they have tightened up and got the best they could out of their squads. Martinez has done the opposite. He has taken a good unit which theoretically could win games without taking too many risks and turned it into the most porous defence in the top 6 leagues in Europe at home.

I wouldn't use Billic as an example. It's his first season and let's not forget how well our manager did in his first season. Stoke aren't exactly pulling up trees either, but I get your point

West Ham have a worse squad than us. Stoke don't have anyone in Lukaku's league. If Stoke had Lukaku up front they would be in the top 4.

Disagree with both your points there mate. West Ham have some good players and spent on them too.

Stoke are as inconsistent as us and go through periods where they don't create anything. Lukaku would help but not as much as that top four.

Hughes is a standard Premier League manager but an absolute hank. Let's see how Bilic does over the next two seasons before declaring his genius, there's been plenty of one season wonders in the Premier League. Bilic is over hyped in my opinion.

Payet has been fantastic this season for Wham. Their results noticeably dropped off while he was out injured, will be interesting to see if he can replicate it next year now he's got his fat contract.

Since January, Stoke have only beaten Norwich, villa, Bournemouth, and Newcastle plus their cup games. Like I said, hardly pulling up trees... We'll never know how they'd do with a player they don't/will never have

Another Season, are you sure, can I ask why he deserves another season ?

I dunno mate I just don't like swapping and changing I think a complete overhaul isn't the answer. I can see why people want him out but I like the young players he's bringing in and what he's trying to do. As frustrating as the last couple of seasons has been it takes time to build a squad and philosophy and I believe he should be given a little more time. Just my opinion really

Remember when Stones did the Cruyff turn in his own box and then gestured to the crowd to relax? It's probably a perfect metaphor for Roberto's brand of football.

I do believe that he's in the process of building something astonishing. We've got the core of Stones, Barkley, Deulofeu and Lukaku. And then Funes Mori, McCarthy, Besic and Cleverley are yet to hit their peak. Niasse is in that same age group too , but he's an unknown quantity. And I'm sure that there will be more top drawer recruits in the summer. Possibly even Yarmolenko?

Beyond that we have players like Browning, Galloway, Garbutt and McAleny. And beyond that Ledson, Dowell, Leandro etc.

We've had a taste of European football and we're becoming increasingly consistent in the cup competitions. We just need that extra bit of luck.

It has taken time for players to adapt to Roberto's possession-based game but the long-term result is that we'll have a team who are incredibly slick. I remember seeing a clip of Bayern going to City and the side from the Etihad just couldn't get the ball off them. We're already seeing signs of that but there will be times when the opposition are happy to sit back and let us have the ball and we need to find a way of breaking them down.

Our side is young enough that they could learn to win big competitions together and dominate the game at home and abroad during their peak years. Fantasy? Perhaps. But we've shown that we're a match for anyone even in our raw state. If we can add a bit more savvy and a bit more strength in depth why couldn't we be challengers?

The FA Cup set Ferguson and Kendall on their way when they were under pressure. And, even if we don't win tomorrow, I don't see the sense in dismantling all the many positive things that Martinez has brought to the club because we haven't yet mastered the art of defending.

I've spotted a flaw in your argument.

How long has he been a manager for?
Really want him to do well but I believe he'll build a great squad and improve their technique and flair, all for an actual tactically astute manager to take over and get the glory.
