Supposed 2 be going Everton game 2moro with some friends 3 adults and 2 kiddies from Oz. They have all been taken ill up in Scotland after visiting relatives in Ireland and can't make it
Tried to get refund £175 from club but no dice.

cool down the drama, lad...phone the customer services again and ask them why they can't refund. Then report back here. Probably the tickets were bought as non-transferable and non-refundable.

No mate, you bought the tickets, the risk that you wouldn't be able to go because of illness or a change of circumstance is on you. It would be different if the club had changed the date of the match.

It's bad luck, but you shouldn't be having a go at the club. They're a business at the end of the day, one which i imagine you would like to remain viable so that you can carry on supporting the team.
 

Not really the clubs fault. Try selling them on here or that stubhub thing? Much better use of your time than fuming yourself into oblivion.
 
Most shops and supermarkets are successful businesses and operate a returns policy (like E.F.C. use to).

Going to football matches is an event. It's not a material thing you buy. It's your responsibility as the buyer of event tickets to check if the purchase is refundable and if so on what grounds.
