Not really on topic but i thought Beckford did superbly well last night to make the chance he missed in the final minutes, i havent seen an Everton striker do that in years.

Right down the throat, in between to centre half, get your nose in front and get a shot away on goal - we've been lacking that directness since AJ left to be honest., teams dont expect it of us.

AJ went down the middle? He was like an old car badly in need of it's wheels being balanced. Chief throw-in winner AJ was.

On the shoulder of the last man trying to get in behind, the one time we tried it last night it worked - like i say teams dont expect it of us. We give teams to much time to set up against us, holding the ball up and bringing the midfeild and full backs into play a bit of direct down your throat if we use it varyingly could do wonders for us.

Yeah. Last min, Jags with the ball in his own half and nothing much on. A fast direct striker up front.

Thats when a long ball is useful, Beckford found the gap well as did Jags with the pass.

Its a different option which might not always come off but has a place.

Or we just hoof it and hope for the best.

At just £1.8m Tim Cahill has to be the best pound for pound for signing any club has made in the Premier League era.

To think Man Utd have spent £28m on Jokers like Veron, £18m on Carrick and £18M on Hargreaves for a combined £64m and Cahill has had had more impact on the Premier League than those 3 at a fraction of the cost.

I'm totally peed off we'll lose him for a month come January when he's in this kind of form and he's the only one who is scoring right now.

January is when we can afford to lose him most (if there is such a time). Ideally, Moyes will bring in some wingers on loan which will allow Fellaini, Rodwell, or Bilyaletdinov to step up as attacking mids in his stead. That being said, Cahill is the meat, potatoes, and salad of the club right now; the B L and T of the sandwich that is Everton if you will. (please excuse the horrible food analogies, his goals just make me hungry for more).

umm 7 goals 4 assists this year he has played a part in 11 of our 16 prem goals this term we need a new attacking dimension but other that he is boss :D

Cahill 's '09-10 stats for the Socceroos over 7 appearances:

Goal Scored Date Fixture Result

1 23.06.10 Serbia FIFA Wolrd Cup 2010. 2-1 Aus
0 13.06.10 Germany FIFA Wolrd Cup 2010. 4-0
0 15.11.09 Oman Asian Cup 2011 Qual. 2-1 Aus
1 14.10.09 Oman Asian Cup 2011 Qual. 1-0 Aus
0 10.10.09 Holland Friendly 0-0
2 12.08.09 Rep. Ireland Friendly 3-0 Aus
2 17.06.09 Japan World Cup 2010 Qual. 2-1 Aus

Six goals in seven games!!! The over reliance of the Australian national team on Cahill is very, very unhealthy to say the least. My brain tells me Tim has to be in the Socceroo squad for the Asian Cup but my heart also tells me he is better off staying with the Club.

There is very little chance Tim will be in the 2014 World Cup campaign for Australia. If he is, at 34, then we are doing something very, very wrong. Australia should be bleeding new blood and discovering new talents.

On the other hand, this is Tim's last hurrah. His (perhaps) last opportunity to walk away from (country and club) football with a medal.

At the same time, his momentum might be broken if he leaves Club football now. He has a chance, a strong chance to finish his season with a double digit goal score. If he was to achieve 100 EPL goals, then he'd better stay put and do the hard yakka.

Having ranted... I read somewhere that if Tim declines to go to the Asian Cup, he will be SUSPENDED by FIFA. So to some extent, it is out of Tim's hands. All he can do is delay his departure as late as humanly possible.

I love Tim as a footballing hero and as a decent human being. He will do the right thing and we all just to have to get behind him.
