Cahill chasing Australian award

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has been nominated for the inaugural Australian PFA Footballer of the Year Award.

The 29-year-old has scored nine goals for the Toffees this season and has been a key figure in Australia's push for World Cup qualification in 2010.

Cahill is up against several well-known names including West Ham defender Lucas Neill, Middlesbrough keeper Mark Schwarzer and Harry Kewell.

The winner will be announced in Sydney on 11 June.

The 12 nominees for the 2008/2009 PFA Footballer of the Year are: Tim Cahill, Travis Dodd, Eugene Galekovic, Mile Jedinak, Harry Kewell, Scott McDonald, Craig Moore, Kevin Muscat, Lucas Neill, Sasa Ognenovski, Mark Schwarzer and Shane Smeltz.

In the bag IMO.

I couldnt get over when i was over there how much more the Ozies i met over there rated Kewell more the Cahill some even Lucas Neill, really surprised me.

To be fair Schwartzer deserves a shout best keeper in the leauge this season.

surprised bresciano didn't even make the list tbh, but cahill should definetely win it by a mile

schwarzer is a distant second for me, i would definitely not say he's the best keeper in the league... howard has more clean sheets. i guess our back 4 has been much better, but even so i'd have to give it to van der saar
