Player Valuation: £35m
Where was he supposed to be playing? He wasn't playing wide midfield because thats where osman was but he seemed to be almost playing right side striker as i rarely saw him towards the middle of the park.

maybe moyes decided to take a gamble on putting him in a different position, but i sincerely think that was one of the big reasons we didn't look close to the everton we're used to seeing. out wide he just can't boss things in the box the way he usually does. for most of the game even when we had good offensive possession we never really looked like scoring, and i think his edge would have been useful.

if moyes is set on playing him wide, as much as i love osman i think against teams like arsenal cahill would have to play at osman's expense. cutting into the middle and dribbling through their centre backs works against wigan and sunderland, not against arsenal.

so as much as i prefer to see cahill in the centre of the park, the only time i do think he should play out wide is when he's playing instead of osman.

I would have him playing in the Fellaini position over Fellaini all year.

Move Fellaini back into the central midfield. And if he's rubbish there, bench him.

No passengers.

Cahill should never be put out on the wing. Ossie shouldnt even be out there, be we dont have a choice.

We just got sucker punched in the space of 15minutes. We were coping well for half an hour or so. Then, stunner goal follwed by 2 consecutive piss poor free headers...we imploded, heads dropped, shape was lost.

Werent prepared for that game, especially against Arsenal.

maybe right next to fellaini? i know exactly what you're saying but fellaini is just way too good at retreiving those hoof balls our defence seem to love to send. unfortunately he can receive the ball, hold it up, and sometimes even turn on a defender but i don't think he's gotten good enough to do much with it yet.

if cahill played just off of him, he could lay it off to him or neville, and we could build our attacks from there. whatever we do, what we're doing right now obviously isn't working.

also, i know i'm going to get torn apart on this forum for even suggesting this, but... cahill at centre back?

if we do sell lescott before we can secure a replacement, would that work? think about it he is one of our best tacklers, and we know he can win headers. plus he can come up for set pieces so we'd still have his main goal threat. i think it might be worth trying

He gave an awful performance in the middle of the park, that's why you didn't see him.

Good teams will rip Neville, Cahill and Fellaini apart, it's not a good combination at all. It should be either Cahill or Fellaini, not both.

We need to sign a centre mid who can pick a pass or get Arteta fit as soon as possible. Or just play Rodwell there, who's already a better centre mid than both of them and more suited to taking the ball off the back four and making us play.

Moyes seems to be just accomodating Cahill anf Fellaini at the moment . I really don't think we should play them both , especially when we get Yakubu and Arteta back , or if we get another midfield signing .
Moyes doesn't seem to be 100% sure what position is best for them . It might be better to drop Cahill and bring him on in the 2nd half as I think Fellaini offers more of an all round game .

I think he moved from the Cahill position to the Arteta postion.

Personally I'd rather see Neville in the Hibbert position, Rodwell in the Neville position and Saha in the Jo position.

Put Cahill on the right and just tell him to run, he'd be more effective that what we've got there.

so does the centre back idea have any merit?

and for those who say he should be dropped, i can pretty confidently say he's our best player and should never be dropped, after jags he's our only player that should start for any epl team.

fellaini and cahill are very different players, fellaini is good at receiving long balls in the air, cahill is better at making passes after receiving less difficult balls. theres no reason we should be able to accomodate them both. i personally think cahill has potential as a centre back, i kind of want to see it just so i can say i've seen him play just about everywhere on the pitch (there's still time for goalie).

No, he's not a centre back and never has been. It'd never happen, not in a million years.

It's not always about the best players, it's about the team and you have to find the right balance.

Fellaini and Cahill still revel in the same position, behind the main striker. Neither of them are good enough central midfielders, your basically just wasting one to get the best out of the other.

We can't play with 10 players mate.

Cahill CB? Dont be so bloody stupid.

if i was as petty as you i'd report you the way you did to me (when i called you out for hating on the US)

anyway, you're right on cue. you've seen him tackle right? he always wins headers, i don't see why it wouldn't work.
