Buying players because of a major tournament

Diouf is worse pal, they actually scouted and bought him before the World Cup. Somebody watched him multiple times and recommended him to Houllier, who then watched him and decided he was worth over £10m!

Rodgers isn't the only RS manager to piss money up the wall they've been doing it for over 20 years at least.
No mate I meant the 2002 El Hadji Diouf.

Iv not even got a name for him....

I remember the sh1te buying phil babb on the back of a world cup.

Gave me great laughs. In the hill of p1$$ for the kanchelskis derby and some horridable long haired brummie troglodyte sweat in front of me did nothing but curse babb all the way through that match....I say all the way - he did the off with a major titty-lip when kanchelskis made it 2-0.

Agree on Poborsky but Arshavin, in my opinion, was good for Arsenal considering the minimal time he got in the position he made a name for himself in at Zenit - as a number 10.

Yeah, he really had a terrific Euro that year...Great interview too but everything I read about him suggested he got lazy once he got his nice wage increase with the move from Zenit

Thought he was one of the very few to be worse off as a result of the taxman when he joined arsenal?

Is that right?...Never heard that

I remember his transfer really well because he was coveted by many clubs, Barcelona included...Zenit were difficult to negotiate with and even Arsenal literally finalized the £15 million deal after the deadline

Really didn't shine for very long though, did he?...Always got the impression that he was a bit lazy but who knows
