Not sure of the ins and outs but it’s strange that the Neville’s (heavily involved with bury previously) haven’t got involved to save the club.

Sad times.

Looks like Bolton might go the same way soon. Although the rumours have been rife about that club for years in terms of financial affairs and dubious goings on.

Like is that it then? In an hour, well less really, they will literally be dead? No husk to rebuild or anything?

Cos as awful as it is, the reality, as far as I know, is that they are getting lobbed out of the league.
Lobbed out and need to regroup, find a buyer, start a giant clear out, pay off their debts, and find a league that will take them.

Same as Chester isn't it?

They are involved with Salford City so don't know if they could get involved

You can't be financially involved in two clubs, so yes that would stop any chance unless he relinquished his part in Salford.

Firstly, it is nothing short of shameful that the EFL have allowed charlatans to destroy two clubs, both from the North West, and the two owners can k'off!

Wasn’t Neville Neville chairman at one time... before he was involved in that rather unsavoury court case?

I’m sure both Phil and Gary started at Bury too.
I think Neville Neville was Chief Exec rather than Chairman (might have been though) he was involved for a long time with Bury though as were the brothers. Then, yes that whole court case thing happened and he backed away from Bury and the club started all going a bit down hill from there. he clearly was doing some good when he was there.

They are not the first by a long way. There's the story of Darlington, for example, or the continuing epic of Coventry City or the lucky escape of Blackpool... David Conn at the Guardian has been very good at covering this over the years.

Football authorities should be implementing laws that stop chancers transferring ownership of assets to businesses connected to themselves, paying themselves massive consultancy fees and, when it all goes tits-up, claiming they are owed fictitious millions and being able to put themselves top of the list of creditors.

What exactly is included in the fit and proper persons test? Do they have to have a viable business plan to run the club as a competitive football club? Or is it just like, we checked and your money is legitimate, you can buy the club?
