Yes, but that is assuming then the player receiving the ball would be behind the ball when it was played. Lukaku was not behind the ball (or second to last defender) when it was played. Therefore, he was offside.



Nope, deflection doesn't count as a new ball played or "new phase of play" as you put it. The ball played was from an Everton player and Lukaku was in an offside position when it was played. Therefore, he was offside.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm made up a couple decisions have gone our way. But let's make no mistake, that AR is having a shocker.

You need to look through the offside rule mate. You can only be offside if the pass is forward, which it wasn't. The deflection after makes no difference as it came off their defender.

No harm to Mr. Clarke Carlilse but this match is so much more enjoyable without his incessant, monotonous stating of the obvious.
