Yes, but that is assuming then the player receiving the ball would be behind the ball when it was played. Lukaku was not behind the ball (or second to last defender) when it was played. Therefore, he was offside.
Nope, deflection doesn't count as a new ball played or "new phase of play" as you put it. The ball played was from an Everton player and Lukaku was in an offside position when it was played. Therefore, he was offside.
Don't get me wrong.. I'm made up a couple decisions have gone our way. But let's make no mistake, that AR is having a shocker.
For as much experience as he has, Barry takes WAY too long to make passing decisions.
