We've been boss going forward. They've looked dangerous from set pieces. Our second was offside, but with Naismith running back away from goal and the defence running towards the goal it's understandable how the linesman missed it. Our 3rd was onside imo, Barry's cross wasn't forward so can't be offside and the ball coming off their defender doesn't change that.

The third wasn't offside because Barry didn't play the ball forward, and it only got to Lukaku from hitting the defender

You can't be offside from a backwards pass.

Yes, but that is assuming then the player receiving the ball would be behind the ball when it was played. Lukaku was not behind the ball (or second to last defender) when it was played. Therefore, he was offside.

Nope, deflection doesn't count as a new ball played or "new phase of play" as you put it. The ball played was from an Everton player and Lukaku was in an offside position when it was played. Therefore, he was offside.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm made up a couple decisions have gone our way. But let's make no mistake, that AR is having a shocker.
