By improving on that terrible season and then continuously improving season on season

Look at that Moyes side at the end of 12/13 compared to the side he inherited

He undoubtedly left us stronger

Martinez brought in Lukaku, but left us overall weaker

But he left Koeman a team that when left to its own devices in that first season he had played enough football to get 7th and back into Europe again. So how did Martinez weaken the traditional 7th place expectations he set up before he left?

The players were there left to him by Martinez, Koeman just shipped them out and bought rubbish....expensive rubbish.

I'm not convinced by your argument Dave

Sorry

What's not to be convinced by? You said Martinez left us weakened from where he picked us from, but the fact is he handed over a squad that got us Moyes' 7th place trophy.

How can that support your "weakened" argument?

I think the team were weaker when he left than when he picked them up Dave. That's my opinion, I feel no need to support it

You have tried, and failed, to convince me otherwise

That's fair enough. But statistically the facts point the opposite way to your perception.

Every time I think of Martinez I get this taste of zest in my mouth. It's most unusual.
