I know it sounds obvious but looking at that video and photos and reading the comments from the younger folk on here makes me appreciate how lucky I was to start watching Everton when I did. My first season was the 69/70 one when we won the league. Obviously then we had the fallow years but the '80s were just amazing. The FA Cup, two titles, other final appearances and a European trophy to cap it all. I don't think I'll ever again experience an atmosphere like the semi v Bayern at Goodison - the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up just thinking about it.

I really hope for the sake of those who missed those good times that we can lift a trophy soon. There's no better feeling than standing amongst fellow blues celebrating a cup win.

I was found later, shambling around the mean streets of Maghull, clutching one of those 2ltr bottles of lager you used to get.
