Brands & Silva press conference.

I thought the presser was pretty good and straightforward with nothing more said than you would expect. The one thing that makes me think that these two are going to get a good grip on the club (and this is going to seem strange) is that the presser was called for 2pm and it started at 2pm. I don't know how many pressers I've waited for to start that have only got going when our reps have felt like turning up. I know it's only a small thing but it's how you should behave from the start with discipline and respect for those your presenting yourself to.

Stands back for p#ss to be taken.

Just want to hear of some activity. Surely Silva has been watching us since he left Watford he should know atleast 1-2 key positions that need upgrading before he even got the job.

Cmon clubs starting to do business:

Man Utd
Liverpool
Arsenal
Leicester
West Ham
Wolves
Huddersfield
Brighton

Just the ones I've seen come on Marcel lad need my transfer fix with no footie on.

None of them are big names.

Fully agree, Carvalho is the nearest to a big name and that’s only because he has been linked to big teams in the past.

I’ve only ever seen Lascelles play and would snap him up in a second. The others I have no idea about.

Not saying they’re bad players just not big names

IMO that would hammer home an unwanted message: 'everything is the same'.

Because that's what retaining those two would do. They are the most senior players and they'll offer hope to those wanting to stay on - but who we want out of the door - that they can hang on.

Is it just me that thought Jags was our best centre half, when fit, last season?

No, its not. He had some good games. The whole unit was a mess till Seamus came back mind.

Like a few have said, rating any players as Good, Bad, or Indifferent on last season is a largely pointless exercise. With a few notable exceptions.

Baines as a deputy LB I'd accept. We need a new starting LB though, that's for sure. I have a felling LB will be an area of highest priority. A CB also. And we need a dominant target man and box-to-box CM.
Yes, all the things that were supposed to be on the shopping list last summer.
Lets hope this crew are better at shopping than the previous lot and read the labels and check the sell-by dates.

I hope that after it's all died down now that Brands backs out of the public eyes and does the biz on the QT. It'd undermine Silva if he was front and centre all the time especially if we go through a sticky patch the press will be asking about Silvas future. Let Silva be the front man now.

Big names Marco said...

CB Lascalles
LB Fabra
DM Carvalho
WF Lozano

Are any of these 'big names'?
What's he suppose to say. I'm interested in small time nobodies? The fans would be on his back already. They aren't big names but no Lozano is attractive, Lacsells(I'll never get his name right off my head) is a England captain in the making.

Unfortunately it looks like B and S have only started liasing this week despite rumours to the contrary....
