Boxing

Frank Warrens two biggest domestic stars both been beat in a week by a jab. Thought the judges who scored it to Arthur was correct.

I had it dead level, but not because of anything Yarde did. Arthur 4-1 up after five, easy to score, but he gave away a train of rounds after that, level after eight - after that, 9, 10 and 11 were debateable either way and Yarde won the twelfth.

No arguments with Arthur decision - indeed I'm delighted as he actually did something.

Arthur controlled it til about the 8th IMO, then he let Yarde work more and get closer to him. Some of the rounds could of been scored even but like the way Arthur made Yarde miss and land the jab. Thought it was the right decision for me.

If they’re on the take they should at least call it close, that’s what I never understand.

Lost count of the amount of times I’ve seen two close cards and one insane shout.

I think when they're on the take they call every close round to the guy they're paid to score it for, so they can argue the toss if asked.

If you go through that fight and score every round that only edged to Arthur for Yarde, you have him winning by six. So everything except rounds two, three and five. Would put good money on that being the exact card he had.

Very blatantly taken a back hander for that card.

There were a few rounds I gave to Yarde just based on landing two shots even though Arthur landed four, as they were cleaner, harder shots and effective aggression counts towards scoring. Arthur did a lot of running, even though like you I did appreciate the technical nature of his jab.

Wasn’t running IMO, was just using his feet to make Yarde think about what he’s gotta do. Yarde needs to change his trainer, that Tunde Ajayi seeks to be taking advantage of him. Doesn’t help when he’s been matched against fighters that don’t offer nothing apart from been a punch bag, very similar to Dubois.

He did that mostly, but rounds six to eight in particular he just ran. He's denying the hand injury but I think he was in survival mode for a few rounds and, in my eyes, gifted Yarde three rounds straight by doing nothing.

As said above, Yarde is deluded - trainers were hopeless there. Could have won that fight comfortably by just upping his workrate. I thought he was gun shy after gassing against Kovalev but when he's still doing nothing after the 10th I think it's because he thought he was around six up on the cards. Weird.

I really enjoyed that. I found it very difficult to score at times, I thought possibly Arthur by 1 round but I wouldn't have argued with a Yarde win. Arthur has a fantastic jab, would have been interesting to see him throw more.

Yarde has himself to blame for not trying to close the gap and throwing to many predictable shots. Arthur could of won that more convincing if he threw the right hand more. Both should of done a lot more but thought Arthur’s tactics and boxing at range and moving won him the fight by a round or two.

Yarde calling it a robbery, will re watch that tomorrow and see and listen to the bad advice he’s been getting. The fact that his trainer doesn’t get him to soar is scary, the fact his only advice is to throw an over hand right and say lions in the camp is very telling. Been reading some fighters comments and they all had Arthur winning and saying how Yardes trainer is terrible. The fact that he told him not to do anything in the Kovalev and wait til the 8th to put it on him is just ridiculous.

Not been a good few weeks for Warren. First Fury cancels his fight, then Dubois gets stopped by Joyce, now Yarde loses too. Seeing him going mad about people question Dubois' injury was great, Hearn has him on strings.

Thinking about the fight I scored 2 or 3 rounds to Yarde purely based on him landing 1 right hand in the round. Arthur could win the rematch handily it he slightly increases his output.

Is it just me, or is the quality of a Warren card miles away from what sky can offer at the minute?

Except from Fury, there isn't much to get excited about with Warren's shows

Warrens put some good cards and big fights on during the pandemic but he’s put all his eggs in one basket with the promotion of Dubois. He’s got some very good British fighters in his stable but he can only take them so far, and struggles to build fighters up to a mainstream level. Warren always gives his fighters the easier option and never puts them in real tests. Dennis McCann should of been on last weeks card, will have been seen by more of an audience and would of gained him more fans.

The is a huge difference between production and presentation on sky and BT. Warren and BT promote the main event or the main event fighter more, Hearn and Sky promote the card with to much hype. Yes, they promote the main event but they give the lesser known fighters a big build up too.

His two biggest fighters in his stable are Frampton and Fury, known on a world stage, but he only promotes them when they fight in this country. Arum and Top Rank hold the real power on them two.
