Boxing

That's not how I remember it, and I've just looked it up and I couldn't find anything to support it. They seemed to have a disagreement over his next opponent. I remember saying after his first fight back with Matchroom that it worked out well for him as he suffered defeat to Lara in it. No one knew Lara here but Hearn was promoting in Mexico at the time, I had a feeling Hearn thought Lara would have his number and put them in together to get him back for leaving for Warren, I'm a bit suspicious like that with these promoters. He had 5 fights with Warren who delivered Elland Road and a World Title for him, basically what Hearn told him he would get him and couldn't deliver.
100% he was struggling to get paid on time. He wasn’t the only one under Warren at the time that wasn’t been paid on time. Just because you can’t find it on a google search, but it was happening. The was a reason why fighters were all trying to leave Warren because of slow payments. It will never come out in public but the was a reason why he went running back to matchroom the second he had a chance.

Really? Never makes the biggest fights in boxing and Bam is his only elite boxer on the top of by head. I don't count the likes of Bivol and Jai (before he left), because he's not really the promoter, their real promoters just sign a co promotional deal with him for his platform. Warren's current stable pisses all over Hearns'. He's prob the best at talking up bang average fighters though, which is good for them. He has to brass out Katie Taylor to MVP to get her paid and he's happy to take his 20% to 30%
For me he’s the best promoter in the game. That might change with Zuffa and the Saudis been involved but for me he’s brought boxing back to the mainstream. Obviously the fighters are the main reason but with his presence on social media, certainly gets people tuning in.

I agree Warrens stable is better, but I’d only say domestically better stable, not worldwide he hasn’t. His shows are lacklustre, boring and feel stale. Feels small compared to a matchroom promotion. A Warren fighter, doesn’t get the profile of a Matchroom fighter. That’s the whole purpose of a promoter to bring more eyes and get best money for his fighters.

He’s the only promotional team that is putting fights on around the globe and raising the profile of the sport in countries like Australia. He’s talking fights around countries growing the sport. The is a reason why he’s a co-promoter on these shows.

Katie Taylor and AJ fighting on MVP cards and Netflix is good for the sport, and most importantly the fighters because they get paid more. At least he’s willing to allow his fighters to do that. Not only for the benefit of his fighters, but cos it brings more eyes to the sport. More eyes, more money gets the fights made.

I don’t get your point regarding Bam been his only elite fighter. How many elite fighters are there in boxing? Isn’t Shakur Stevenson still signed to him and got one fight left with him? Madrimov, Bivol, Katie Taylor and Boots are elite imo. That’s 6 elite fighters right there. If you don’t class them as elite, then they are closet to been elite your gonna get.

I know fighter's have had that issue in the past with Warren, but I spend most of my working day with ear buds in listening to boxing interviews across all the YT div channels and I've never heard that about Warrington in any interview or podcast. And I found direct quotes from his team saying it was something different why he left. Of course because I don't know about it doesn't mean it didn't happen, so I'd like to educate myself. What's your source for it happening?

Just because he puts on cards globally doesn't make him the best imo, the state of Saturday night card. That's not a card befitting the best promoter in the world, and that's a standard Matchroom card these days. The average world ranking of the male boxers on there was well over 300, that's almost small hall standards before the Saudi's ruined small hall.

Of course he's allowing her to do that, he will be taking 20% to 30% of her huge purse for doing sweet FA. According to Hearn his contract with DAZN was worth "£1 billion" and Matchroom is worth well over "£1 billion", and yet he won't invest in his fighters. You seem to be crediting Hearn with Netflix when he's an away promoter on it

I'm not sure Madrimov is elite tbh, a best win of Kurbanov certainly doesn't prove that. I struggle with saying any woman is elite in boxing as the pool is that small, but Persoon battered Taylor twice only to get robbed twice. Taylor is certainly the money woman in boxing. I'd already addressed Bivol in my previous reply, isn't he one one of them co promo deals to use Hearn's platform? Agree 100% on Shakur and Boots being elite, although Boots resume needs to be better.

But if Hearn was the best promoter in the world, why can't he deliver for any of these mentioned? It's the Saudi's delivering for Madrimov, Bivol (Hearn has delivered him 2 good fights in the past but a lot of crap as well), and Shakur, with Hearn admitting he's the talent agent working for Turki for their cards, MVP delivering for Taylor and he can only deliver the likes of Avenesyan and Lima for Boots.

Going back to how much he's said his DAZN contract and Matchroom is worth, he's won 8 or 9 purse bids in 15 years. The best promoter would back their fighters imo. The latest one he's let down is Lewis Crocker, having to go to Australia to defend his title to a manditory challenger in Liam Paro. It was only recently Hearn was hinting at there being no money in Aussie boxing and that was to blame for him not being able to deliver for Jai, but a few weeks later he's losing purse bids for his own world champion to an Aussie promotion. If Crocker was with Warren that fight would be in Belfast.

Maybe we have different criteria for what the best promoter should be doing, but to state it's Hearn as a matter of fact is dodgy imo

Paro's promoters will throw good money at fights, now their cash cow Tim Tszyu has been shown up I'm wondering if they're going to try to push Paro to become their #1 guy. Hearn still should be able to outbid them though tbf particularly for a first title defence.

It's not the exception, it's the norm for him not to win purse bids. Why would Billion Dollar Eddie back his fighters when someone else will stump up the cash to pay them.

My source came from someone who is in boxing and has a presence in the Yorkshire boxing circuit. He’s also been to majority of Warringtons fights and is very close with his family.

I’ve discussed boxing with someone on here over direct messages and up until about 18months ago, my youngest son boxed for a club. He was been trained with someone very close to Warringtons camp for a lot of his earlier fights.

Well agree to disagree and respect your opinion but I stand by he’s the best promoter in the game for me.

Is he dodgy? Absolutely, but name me a promoter that isn’t.

Fair enough, not saying it didn't happen but that's the definition of hearsay. I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen tbh but I can only go off what Warrington's team has said. One thing I will give Hearn is he does always pay what he says he will pay and on time.

Said it in this thread before but I know Eddie always paid his lads and didn’t put ridiculous ticket selling demands on them .

Matchroom gets stick but from what I know , people who’d know , they were really fair in terms of fighters unlike other promotions. Certainly Other promoters blew them out of the water financially but that’s because in that case their business model wasn’t exactly legit .

Totally agree mate but this person isn’t the type to lie. Josh Warringtons even been in his gym in (funnily enough in)Warrington training kids including my son. He’s a very well respected man and gives up his time training kids for free.

He’s also told me stories about been shafted by matchroom on VIP tickets.

Some shady stuff goes on that doesn’t see the light of day. Can say this, Shawn Porter is one of the nicest men in boxing or sport that I’ve came across. Him and Ricky Hatton two of the most kindest and genuine people met through sport.
