That is the thing though, it isn't a red even under the soft and pathetic rules:

It isn't an attempted headbutt (like Ronaldo's vs Iran that should have been a red as he didn't connect) and the force wasnt excessive or brutal. Probert has remembered only half the definition of a player striking an opponent on the head there (ie: that it has to be with the hand or arm).

I wouldn’t even class the force as negligible it was less than that

The refs are not robots ffs. He is seeing that from an angle slightly behind Smith and with the big reaction of Smith and the motion Richarlison makes I can understand if what he saw looked worse than it was.

The more important thing is none of our players should be getting themselves in situations like that where theres a risk of a red. Off the ball nonsense. Im pissed off solely with our player

You can always count on Everton to bring you right back down to earth again. Decent start to the season followed by this nonsense. Been mostly rubbish the whole half and couldn't even pass the ball accurately regardless of the red card. Ref is an idiot too. Could have easily given 2 yellow cards cos it was obvious both players went head to head and one pretended to be hit. Doesn't change the fact though that Richarlison should have been man enough to just not be drawn in instead of acting like a big kid.

Didn't take long to get back to Saturday afternoons being ruined by Everton.

K'off Everton.

Did you see City against Wolves earlier? City could hardly put two passes together and gave the ball away all the time. It happens sometimes. Wolves had the better of City for long periods, this being the same Wolves that we gave a lesson last week. You say Richarlison acted like a big kid. Reason is, he is only 21 and in top echelon football terms that IS a big kid.

I know it was stupid from Richarlison, but what a pathetic reaction by Smith. Isn't there any sportsmanship left in the game, it's just full of overpaid prima donnas who'll do anything just to get another player sent off, it's soft as and I'm sick of it.

That's why the assistant refs are there though, to advise the ref from another angle.
