How far away were you to catch that with a 100mm macro mate? Whats the minimum focus length on the 100mm EF?

Took these this evening on the mountain by here.......... it was funny as the sun was going down and i couldn't see a thing as it was so bright......I had my iphone so just pointed the thing at where I thought the sun was and pressed the button.....when I got home i looked at them and was pleasantly suprised...I think they look cool..
