The top ones of the Coot are quite unusual, as it’s very rare to see a Coot with a fish, let alone one that big !

why's it unusual? i've not much clue about birds/ducks, i just like how they look. those black ones are visually not so interesting normally but they were active today!

this might've been the moment he caught the fish, then wandered off into the sunset picking at its entrails:

They normally stick to much smaller stuff that they pick up off the bottom, so to see them with a reasonably sized fish is quite unusual.

the gulls were bomb-diving from the air into the water today too, i wanted to get a pic of one pulling out a fish but kept missing that split-second moment.
 
Found this caterpillar on a dock leaf in the garden - it was quite chilly today - seems like the bugger is trying to keep it's head warm!
