I also have really enjoyed Soccer Against the Enemy. Also, Kuper's "Ajax: The Dutch, The War" is a really good micro-history of the Holocaust from the perspective of people who lived in Amsterdam as well as members of Ajax. Plenty of footy in there, but just as much a history of the Dutch wartime experience as well as their legacy after the war.

"The Numbers Game" is great; a money-ball approach to football; lots of good data analysis that is easy to read.

"The Nowhere Men" is also good, about the PL scouts.

"The Mixer" is a history of the PL and how it has changed; very easy to read.

"The Ball is Round" is a massive, compendious history of the game from the beginning.

"How Soccer explains the World" "Soccernomics" are both good, global analyses of the modern game.

"Brilliant Orange" is a cool, cultural history of soccer in the Netherlands

"Soccer against the Enemy" is a cool exploration of soccer rivalries throughout the world.

Thought The Nowhere Men was ace.

Just started Brilliant Orange, love the Dutch and am enjoying so far.

This is a decent read

"A year with Verona" is the absolute best one I've ever read. Especially if you live Italian togger.

Same for "Calcio." Although I didn't get a chance to read it fully - stopped after the Juve and Heysel stuff as it was for Uni.

Gazza's autobiography was very good too.

Currently have:

"The Nowhere Men" and "Living on the Volcano" by Michael Calvin to read and "Provided you don't kiss me: 20 years with Bryan Clough" to get through before I start getting any more.

My son got me Das Reboot by Raphael Honigstein for Xmas last year, which I really enjoyed. It's built around Germany winning the last World Cup, but also covers how they developed and changed their whole system over the 15 years or so prior to that.
Tor! was good.
