Inverting The Pyramid is the best book on the history and development of football tactics I've read. Best football autobiography is Mick Rathbone's, The Smell Of Football - absolutely hilarious.

Just downloaded Pat Van Den Hauwe's book for £3.50. ALan Stubbs book is also cheap on Kindle - £2.99

Agreed, Inverting The Pyramid was my holiday book of choice last year and an updated version of it is out this summer.

David Conn's 'The Beautiful Game?' is a good read. Confirms a lot you already suspect, but to read it so meticulously broken down is excellent. Gives you a real understanding of how weak the FA are in the face of the PL, and destroys any idea of a trickle down effect from the premiership to the lower leagues.

Have been told that the book about Garrincha is a good read, makes George Best look like a saint.

John Hartson's autobiography is a brilliant read and quite heart felt when he tells about his cancer.

Currently reading Alan Stubb's autobiography the now. So far so good.

For its literary brilliance it has to be The Damned United. A truly spectacular piece of writing, and if you witnessed the Clough years you'll absolutely align with it.

For its honesty ( which lets face it is not a word you would use with regards to football autobiographies) I found Roy Keanes was a very good read.....I couldn't stand the man prior to digesting it, but it totally changed my opinion.
