That day fat Sam and his methods got pasted 5-0 by Stoke at Wembley in the Cup semi was the day his days at Bolton were numbered.
They have got old Tangerines legend Ian Evatt as manager from this season. Came from Barrow after getting them back in the league after 50 years away. Finding it harder to motivate Bolton and expectations are much higher there.

Owen Coyle was the manager then.

Sam left about 4 years earier!! :D

I remember freezing my bollocks off in the terraces at their old Burnden park in the FA cup in 94 I think.

We drew and then they somehow beat us in the replay, despite us being 2 nil up. Hated them even since so it's nice to see them down there tbh

They had the top balcony that night, they was like wild animals. I was on with them, dad got some free tickets.

Writing on the wall when big sams upgrade was sammy lee then Gary megson
One of my old coaches was megson’s number 2, ex arsenal player Chris Evans. He was offered the job when megson got sacked but turned it down. Chris is well known for the work he implemented at the wolves academy in the early 90’s bringing through the likes of Jolean lescott. A great football man.

Last time I went to a game at Bolton was when the U23's played them in the Johnstone Paint

Got there late and just left the car in the official car park. Stadium was basically empty so no one seemed to care. I often wonder whose usual space I nicked lol

As a Barrow fan I can confirm this (apart from it was 48 years to be pedantic), should have stayed but thought he was bigger and went to the bright lights of Bolton.

We have struggled this season but that is mainly due to poor recruitment and the uninspiring David Dunn as manager. If he had stayed then there would have been a solid foundation to be built upon, good owners, no transfer embargo, etc. They are in a right mess and only sit a couple of places above us.

I remember going to Burnden Park for the 1977 League Cup Semi. BFS was playing. Absolute Mayhem in the carpark before and after. IIRC three or them got stabbed that night

Their new owners have done a Glazers on them by all accounts. Valued at £200m, used £30m of their own cash, and £170m of clubs own money/loans for the balance.

What could go wrong.
