Everton are among a host of English clubs keeping tabs on Dutch starlet Bob Schepers.

The 18-year-old is under contract with SC Cambuur until 2012, but that has done little to curb speculation surrounding his future.

Widely regarded as one of Europe's most promising talents, the teenager's star has been on the rise for some time.

He has already represented his country at U17 and U19 level and is expected to break into the senior fold sooner rather than later.

Such potential has not gone unnoticed outside of his homeland, with numerous reports claiming that he could soon be on his way to the Premier League.
Contact

Cambuur director Alex Pama has confirmed that Everton are one of the clubs to have expressed an interest, while it has been suggested that Manchester United are also in the running.

"There is interest from English clubs and clubs from the Eredivisie," Pama told VoetbalPrimeur.nl.

"However, Everton is the only club that has contacted me about Bob. It's not concrete yet, but they have scouted him regularly this season. Everton have been following Bob since the youth World Cup last summer.

"We'd like to keep Bob, but we are open to a transfer if Everton or another club are willing to pay a decent transfer fee."

NEXT!

Looks like Everton have a long standing interest in him. Several Dutch media reported last summer that he had signed for us. Weren't the most thrustworthy sources, so didn't really take notice. Seeing this story pop up again, I'm starting to believe there might be something in it.

Only played in a few matches for Cambuur this season, and although he plays in the same division as Fortuna, I don't really know anything about him. I know he's rated as a top talent, but it's an enormous step up from the Dutch 1st Division to the PL.

Im waiting for my Footy manager scout to get back to me on this one!

And there he was!

Bought the VI today (Holland's biggest footy magazine) and they also stated our interest in Bob Schepers. I'll try to translate it as good as I can:

It looks like Bob Schepers will be heading to the Premiership this summer. The 18 year old youth international, has been tracked for a long while now, by Blackburn Rovers, Wigan and Everton. Especially the last club looks to be seriously interested in signing the left winger. Scouts from Everton wanted to watch Bob Schepers play against RBC Roosendaal, but he only played four minutes in that match.

Schepers made his debut in the first team of Cambuur on April 24 last year against FC Dordrecht. This season he made seven appearances. Schepers has a contract at Cambuur untill 2012, but the board of Cambuur believes a transfer will be of financial benefit to the club. According to chairman Alex Pama, Everton headscout Ray Hall made it clear that they were seriously interested in signing the young starlet. "They've been tracking him since last summer." That was during the U-17 European Championship in Germany, were he lost the final against the hosts.

So looks like the report is genuine. Not really known for bullshitting this footy mag.
