Bilyaletdinov - early days, but thoughts so far?

Cuts inside way too much for a winger, and is dreadful in defense.

Maybe that's the game he played in Russia where on the national team the fullbacks strom down the wing in attack. I don't know.

Needs to improve, the talent is there but it might take a while.

Billy is going to be excellent - you can see his class a mile away. I remember people hammering Arteta and Pienaar in their first six months here and argueably Billy has been better.

Lads its been about four years, we dont play with Wingers we play with converted centre midfeilders who tuck inside and let the Full backs overlap - our width comes from the full backs. The idea is to confuse the full back and pin down the oppositons flank and make thier winger track back. Essentially Billy and Piennar tuck inside and try to create - in the main. This allows us to be in a position to contain other teams - be solid - and allow our fullbacks to track back if our play breaks down. With the ball it means we can have almost six - seven players playing offesenivly trying either to create or score - this compansates for playing just one up front.

Most sensible / insightful post I've ever seen on this site and 100% correct.

But that was Neiler.......are you sure!

IMO Billy has gone back wards since he's been here. When I first saw him play he crossed the ball with supreme ease, the delivery could only be compared to either Dave Thomas or HRH K Sheedy (God bless him). Lately his crosses are flat, his confidence has waned and he does go missing. It is certainly possible that he is not sure of what is expected of him indeed that wouldn't surprise me at all but it is no excuse to make fundamental errors. That said his attempted volley in the first half in Lisbon would have been the stuff of legend if it had gone in, we need more of the same from him and quickly

Certain Evertonians love doing that....hammering players in their first few months here. They did the same to Yakubu too. Don't know why but that's how it is.

Billy's gonna be the cat's pajamas for us. Simple really.

cats don't wear pyjamas William:P

I'll judge him when he's played in a full strength side with a fully fit arteta and pienaar, see how he does with players who are probably on the same wavelength as him (y)

I like the cat's pajamas. But that sitter he missed against that Red Lot made me shudder whereas Gosling was more composed last year when it mattered in the big game.

After the euphoria, it's time to settle down and analyse his performance.
He seems lost especially in the 2nd half. At times he was so poor he reminds me of Linderoth. I often end up asking myself what exactly is he trying to do.
This lad needs a lot of help to get in pace with life in the league.

Isn't up to the pace but the same questions were asked by many people about Arteta and Pienaar when they first joined.

He's got alot of talent, will prove to be a great buy by Moyes but needs more time to settle in. He doesn't realise that he doesn't have alot of time on the ball and the game bypasses him totally. He isn't used to our style of play yet. Once he has a rest in the summer (He's been playing since January lad ffs), and a pre season then he'll show what he's about.

OK here's my thoughts.

I don't think he should be employed as a winger, he's way to slow and too weak. Instead he should be given a central role or play further up the field so Baines could do the running and for the 'killer ball' give it to Bilyaletdinov to work his magic.

Give him a little longer and he will grow to become a fantastic player for us and for everyone else to watch.
