JAYTALITY

Player Valuation: £30m
Dono why I thought of this but just thinking about when I was over for 3 - 1 beating of united when Billy, Rodwell and Gosling scored.

Was there ever such a great win against United when so many forgettable Everton players got on the score sheet?
Just seems peculiar to me looking back. It's normally memorable Everton characters that do United over, over the years. It was a fantastic match but we can't really look back on the players who did the damage with great fondness. Maybe Billy could be excused but them other ****s . .

Am I wrong?

What's your take?

Think Oviedo will be one in a few years, sadly.

A bit forgotten that is, by the way, I can't see anyone ever being upset at him. He's lovely.

Whats the beef with Rodwell lad?

Not a beef per say, if I was to have one it would because he didn't make any noises about wanting to stay, seemed delighted to be going to a place where he knew he would not get a game but lots of money. I don't harbor strong negative feelings just with the decision he has made he will be not be very memorable. Gosling a different story as I'm sure you'd agree.

PS the word that is blocked is twa . .ts. so if it seemed stronger than that I didn't mean it so.

Thought that was billys best match, when he kept changing with i think pienaer between left wing and attacking mid.

Remember this game for the simple reason i broke my foot the day before, and didnt go to hospital till the sunday just so i didnt miss the everton game [thinking i might get kept in etc]

Fringe players or unlikely scorers scoring against the big teams actually seems to be common in my opinion. I don't know if it is because they are more likely to focus on the normal threats, leaving these players more space to surprise, but this doesn't seem rare.

Just looking at the last couple seasons:

Naismith vs Chelsea (2), Liverpool
Oviedo vs ManU
Gibson vs ManCity
Osman vs ManCity, Liverpool
Deulofeu vs Arsenal
Vellios vs Chelsea

Personally, I love it. Gives me something nice to remember some of our "other" players by.
I like that when I think of Gosling, I can think of his goals against ManU or Liverpool. Beckford notched 2 against Chelsea and one against Liverpool.

Even applies to assists -
When I think of McFadden, I think of his cross to Cahill for the 89th minute overhead kick against Chelsea.
And even Andy van der Meyde himself - I choose to remember him for his cross to Gosling against Liverpool (only notable positive thing I can remember).

When a coach wants a player and an agent wants $$$$$$$$$$ I bet its not hard to convince a 19-20 year old that when he signs he's going to play all the time.

Rodwell always seemed to play hard for us. However he was often injured which hurt his development. We got a fair price for him. No antimosity. When City gives us 100M for Barkley 3 years from now I wouldn't mind Rodders coming back be part of the deal.

I was never really was mad Gosling either. He was coming off a leg injury and probably scared so he took the money (in hindsight probably a good move to take the money). Dumb mistake on our part, not his fault.

Billy is talented and could do well in a top league like Spain. His skills just don't translate well in kick and rush footie.
