Big Vic is NOT a Striker...he is, however, a great wide player!

Summerskin

Player Valuation: £35m
First half he (and the whole team tbh) didn't do a thing right.

Second half, Ossie jumps into the centre and Vic takes up wide left, suddenly he's winning every 50/50 & linking up with Baines like a madman.

As he proved at the back end of last season, he's quite a limited player at times, but playing him in a more withdrawn, wider position really does get the best out of him.

DISCUSS OR GTFO.

Reminds me of Young Granty , in that , NO MATTER WHAT HIS FORM , HE ALWAYS TURNS UP AGAINST THE RS .

THEY ARE TERRIFIED OF HIM , TOO , incidentally ...

Carry on ,...

I and many thousands must be missing something with Anichebe cos I dont think he has the touch or the quality to be a premiership player

Once he learns to stop falling over as much and use his strength then I have no doubt that he will be able to become a top class striker.

thought he was immense today especially in the second half he deffo put a proper shift in

He doesn't use his natural attributes as well as he could, but you can tell at times he's paid attention to Saha and Yak in training. He's a slightly smarter footballer than two years ago. Today I thought his control was poor - the ball bounced off him too easily - but he could be effective at holding it up if he stays fit and gets a decent run. Right now, though, it's Saha and Beckford for me, and I doubt we'll see Vic start on the wing in a 4-4-2.

One encouraging thing is that he looks really p***ed off when he tries something clever and it doesn't quite come off. Saha never looks bothered, and I can only assume the size of Yak's shlong means nothing ever really gets him down.

He and Seamus have been our most improved players in the last 8 months, i never thought he would make the grade but that opinion has changed in the last 8 months, has the potential to be a big player for us and was terrific today. Mobility, pace, physicality and now he knows where the goal is. Still young.

I wouldnt decide on a postion for him yet, or judge him on the first half as i thought he and Beckford didnt get a look in due to no bridge in offensive play as our midfeild was overloaded. To be honest he was the game changer when he went back into midfeild.

I agree with this last post too. I haven't seen much of him granted, but man, he seems to whine after every single call. Beckford gets flattened and he's usually up and about. Victor gets flattened and the next image is of him whining to the ref with a grimace.

It seems to happen a lot (Torres did a lot of it today too). But maybe it's because I compare Victor to Beckford who constantly just looks awed to be there (sometimes Seamus wears this expression too - I adore it).

He's got strength and pace but he doesn't seem to have the engine to use it for an entire half, let alone a game. He did nothing in the first half, then put himself about for fifteen minutes in the second before looing knackered.

He's a battering ram rather than a striker.
