I worked on ground investigations over the whole line for 5 years.we have some construction contracts on HS2 and its an incredibly impressive project. Really easy to scoff at the expense etc but I love going to do site visits on these major projects
The history of that things is fascinating, started by the French who eventually ran out of money, abandoned, then restarted by the americans. I'm not sure how but chinese interest and investiture in one of the companies that part owns and operates it has caused strife up at capitol hill.No pictures but I always thought the Panama canal lock system was pretty impressive.

I love a good Lock system. Not on the same scale obviously, but when I visited Scotland a couple of years ago we stopped at a little place which I think was called Fort Augustus or something (my memory fails me), basically it’s where Loch Ness meets the Caledonian canal via a lock system, it was awesome.The history of that things is fascinating, started by the French who eventually ran out of money, abandoned, then restarted by the americans.
