He'd win.
I don't get the criticism about his wealth. The company he founded is worth $1.6 trillion, and he owns 10% of the stock. In the past year, the stock price of the company has doubled, so his paper wealth has doubled (as has anyone who has shares in them, myself included). Heck, as much as that rise will have been driven by the tremendous value they've shown during the pandemic, there will also be an element of the QE undertaken around the world, as bouts of money printing nearly always see the stock market rise.
I get your point, but he runs Amazon (or did). The buck stops with him as far as how the company is run and it's policies. Amazon made something like a $10B give or take a billion in profit prior to the pandemic. Yet he will have full time employees in fulfillment centers struggling to make ends meet....even after the pay raise he was pressured into a couple years back.
Yes, Amazon would make less profit with better pay/benefits for employees so stocks would be lower and you and he would have less money "on paper", but society would be better overall. And while that might make a tangible difference for you financially, does it really affect Bezos if he is worth 50B vs 100B?
I also criticize the Walton and Tyson families from my own home state for similar issues.
All this said while I await the arrival of a couple Amazon purchases. My introvert self and progressive/liberal self often have words.
At least Bezos invented his company and product / service. It’s a truism that there are no normal, sane billionaires.
in actual fact Bill Gates is probably as good as it gets.
They do once it's their jobs, and the next faze as automation is now moving on middle and upper management is now being trimed. Proper angst amongst chatteratti which we've been seeing already, Brexit swelled its ranks with the highsr educated, hence it's ability to organise.I've boycotted Amazon for well over 10 years. Bezos is Lex Luthor as far as I'm concerned.
I don't think enough people comprehend how much money he has i.e. what the difference between a million and a billion is, and don't care how badly Amazon treat their employees.
Nah.At least Bezos invented his company and product / service.
Gates just bought the DOS operating system and rebranded it MS-DOS.
He didn't invent the Windows operating system either.
Who's the innovater? Amazon is succesful for the simple reason he is
light years ahead of the competion and customers / people absolutely love it!
But to get to that size companies need visionary leaders.Nah.
Amazon has hundreds of thousands of employees. And a whole bunch of them came up with ideas that made the company what it is. Do you think Bezos came up with the end to end vision of AWS?
Bezos did a great job hiring and helping to set course (though you could certainly point to non-ideal practices even there), but a company that size does not succeed on the back of one person.
I bet he really hates how GOT diss him, whilst the rest of the uk are busy clicking, and increasing his wealth every fkn second
