in asia thats how they gamble. it took beards for me to get my head round it, as i worked in a bookies in my yoof and find it far easier working out odds the old school way.

What is described in the OP isn't betting turning decimal. It is just slightly simplifying the odds. It's easier to think of 7.5/1 rather than 15/2.

Decimal odds are much easier to work with and understand once you've got it.

To convert them you simply do the division and add one. So 4/1 becomes the decimal odds of 5 ( [4 / 1] + 1 ).
