@chicoazul is a massive fan of The Wire and responded to my critical post sound. Thread topics are there to be critiqued and defended, but the clique can't manage it. It's why the Late Show died on its arse...yous can't hack it.

Can you dig?

@dholliday you linked this

http://archive.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/blogs/the_angle/2010/09/is_the_wire_rac.html

The article says 'Is the Wire racist?' and the article surmises that it isn't. It literally only looks at one side of a Harvard debate (so, it being debate), someone HAD to argue that it was. None of the rest of them are 'serious commentators'. So wind your tedious neck in again.

Ishmael Reed isn't a serious commentator? He's a celebrated writer. Those links are serious discussions as to whether The Wire is racist or not. You said you hadn't seen any. How you interpret them is your bag of fish.

Will your pants split?

Lol, the lengths you go to to get a few bites.

The late show dried up because most of the main contributors moved away from the site. It had nothing to do with people’s inability to debate stuff as nothing serious was ever debated there ...

Did mummy love you too much or not enough?

The best is him google searching those articles, half of which contradict his argument that The Wire is a racist show.
Schoolboy error that - not like Holiday to balls up something so fundamental. He's normally more careful when he sets out to antagonise.

I wonder if he's feeling okay?

Absolutely nobody missed him while he was gone, and it kills him.

All his past allies are banned so without us giving him stick he has literally nothing. Bickering with him is my good deed for the day as it gives the pathetic mess some attention

I'm fine and mildly entertained, thanks bb.

I'm familiar with those articles and the points they make. In short, it's that a popular mainstream show is depicting black people as druggy hoodlums. Sure, there's also cops and lawyers and bad white people, but the gist of it is the show is about criminality and black Americans are a hugely-visible part of that.

I've got friends in Brooklyn and Detroit who are creating fantastic culture, their complaint is why can't there be a drama series about something empowering like that? There can still be bad apples to create drama, but the dominating theme is creating culture, not pushing crime.

So to them The Wire just looks to be encouraging the same tired old stereotypes about black people, much like Gangsta rap and bling hip-hop has done.

But you don't, do you? This is a load of absolute nonsense.

Despite completely misinterpreting them.
