I saw him as great but not an all time great sort of player.
I watched that side a lot but I was quite young (going to Goodison with my Dad), so it's true I wouldn't be the best judge at that age. If someone tells me he was head and shoulders above other right backs playing at that time I'm happy to take their word for it.
Who would be the other names in the frame for all time Everton right backs?

He's a tough one for me. That one season he was insanely good. One of my happiest days ever when he ripped Wednesday apart away.
But it was one season and he left like a sh*t. Tarnishes his ace season for me.

This would mean that there would be constant improvement as time goes on, but the quality in the Premiership has oscillated year by year, with this year's current cohort being a rather poor one, and there being better cohorts in years gone by. And I wouldn't limit these oscillations in quality to the era of the Premier League.
It is difficult to compare different eras, not least because the rules have changed so much, the no back pass rule makes a massive difference, for example. But I wouldn't even agree that this is Moyes best side, our central midfield is piss poor and puts both our attack and defence under strain. The 07/08 and 08/09 teams were much better, IMO.

My Dad who went to Everton for nearly 70 years (!) before he sadly died always said the best player he ever saw in the shirt was Alex Young, so if it was good enough for my Dad then that's good enough for me and he'd be in my all time best 11!
On the right back "discussion" without doubt the two best right backs I have watched play for Everton have been Tommy Wright and Gary Stevens. Tommy Wright was a class act and would just get my vote!
Re the Ray Wilson/Leighton Baines decision, I had the privelege of watching Ray Wilson in my early days at Goodison (a long time ago!) and although I think Leighton Baines is by far and away the best left back we have had for nearly 40 years, Ray Wilson would get my vote, but only just!

fraid so. southall great shot stopper and a legend but not as good positionally , his distribution was horrible and tended to moan far too much when things werent going well
