Apparently he had agreed to sign for Blackburn, but when Dalglish phoned the office to get the paperwork signed, no one answered the phone as they had all left early to go for Friday drinks, so they agreed to sign it on Monday. Ferguson phoned Keane on Saturday and persuaded him to sign for Man U instead.
