Best of the Rest

We should be able to overhaul Burnley who haven't done anything for a quarter of a season and Leicester losing Mahrez in mind only could end their hopes of pushing on. Whether others can get ahead of all of us who knows.

If we get some confidence and don't fall to pieces under pressure once relegation becomes out of the question we should be able to put on a run of positive results.

Yes we can finish 7th if we string a few good results together - let's hope so.

The higher the better, but it won't mask the calamity that this season has been.

Says a lot about the rest of the league if we do though.

Bar the odd hiccup, we've been best-of-the-rest for almost 15 years now...frankly it's getting boring and I was looking forward to a good old-fashioned relegation battle this season.

Damn you Big Sam and your stabilising ways :whip:

It's the first time as an Evertonian I'd say no to Europa league qualification, and 7th could well get you it.

Just keep us up, then close the door on your way out.

We'll finish 7th but, should've at least overtook Arsenal for 6th or would've, if any of our managers this season had just bothered to play the same team, with players in their right position..bla bla.
On to the summer, with our 'to be revealed' 5th manager (if you include Unsworth) in 2 years.

This.
9th it is and once 40 pts is reached...which will probably coincide with us being marooned at 9th like we were at 7th last season
Out will come the flip flops and holiday brochures and the foot will come off the accelerator

Its the Everton way

We will barely notice the difference.

The blooming foot has rarely been on the accelerator since the season started

I think it was, but they flooded the carb, when we do get into gear we can barely manage 2nd and theres hardly any gas in the tank.
I remember when we drove an E type and some days we turned up in a rolls, now its an austin allegro

Best of the rest used to be behind the top 4.
When Manchester City came in it was a top 5. Then Spurs had a push, now its top 6.
Best of the rest now translate to "are better then the teams below us."

I agree I don't like how they shift it especially soon after we stop finishing 5th regularly. But two consecutive 7th right now is something we can build on to the future. It's maintaining some sort of a bar.
