that was the home game .they were nothing special that day the great performance was the 87 season 4,0 at st james park ,the only time ive seen everton clapped off the park by the home fans, trevor steven was world class that day

Yep that was the one I got it confused with. I was at the 3-2 away win Sept 84, late header by gray but not the one they were clapped off at as you said. Was based near Watford at the time so did not get to every home game. Have no recollection of the villa game in 84 so guessing I missed it. Great times. Best goal for me that I saw at GP that season Steven vs Sunderland.

Anyone else remember Eammon O'Keefe's goal to win the replay against Southhampton?
I know it would never win goal of the season but, in terms of reaction and noise, I can't remember many beating it.

I forget who we were playing against, it was a European night, but when the whole team did a great passing move up the pitch and then it was back heeled (by Pineear I think) to Ossie on the edge of the box who struck it first time into the back of the net.

The greatest GP crowd reaction ever. It's on Youtube somewhere. It was captured by both ITV and BBC from different camera positions but only one appears on Youtube. The days when even 3rd replays like this one attracted nearly 50,000 to GP. When replays were played the same week as the original tie. And when a replay was all pay at the gate -- probably explaining why I didn't get into the ground that night til 20 minutes after KO!
