Besic return?

Shame.

He is completely two footed, can tackle, has a good eye for a pass and is a good communicator on the pitch.

I don't really know what to see to people who can't see what he can bring to a side.

I understand those wary of him staying fit long enough to do anything but his actual ability should be obvious.

As for where he could fit in, Besic, Schniederlin and Gana as 3 midfield destroyers who can also go anywhere and pass the ball would work for me. They are all intelligent players who can switch position with each other.

It's the future. Davies and McCarthy (to an extent) can do it too.

I've been watching a different player than you then, mate

Besic has his strengths - he has a lovely, low centre of gravity and carries the ball really well. He is tenacious and does a man-marking job better than anyone else at the club.

His ability to spot and execute a pass are the weakest part of his game though, in my opinion, and it's a fairly fundamental weakness for a player who plays in the middle of midfield

At one time I did think he could end up being good for us, but we are absolutely overloaded with players in his position

He'll be gone in the summer

He will be injured long before that mate.

Have seen games where he has seemed like the second coming (and if I recall correctly he has effectively put both Messi and Bale out of the game in international matches) and also games where he has seemed pretty useless.

Will the real Besic stand up and stay fit for long enough to let us see which one of the above is his true standard...

He is a real Jekyll and Hyde.

He was brilliant when coming on as sub when we were down to ten men versus West Ham.

A fortnight later he was abysmal against Arsenal and was hooked for Stones at half time.

I think we as a bunch of supporters are guilty of this. Any defensive minded player seems to be deemed as not good going forward, McCarthy, Gueye and Besic mainly. Besic and Gueye have really good vision, it wont pay off all the time but they try stuff that you wouldn't expect.

We are not that overloaded really. We have 3 roles and 5-6 players to cover it. Gueye and Schneiderlin are the every weekers and then you have McCarthy and Besic who are both injury prone and Davies who is young and can play further forward.

I get the impression that Koeman and the club in general rate Besic, he is all over any marketing stuff we do and Koeman brings his name up every week. Also if we keep with three at the back he may be an option there. His lack of height (relatively speaking) isnt quite as much of an issue in a back 3.

If we are competing in europe next season, keeping jamo and besic makes alot of sense if we can keep them fit. Both great assets and can be used for different roles.
