Keep pulling this up....but no one's interested in that.

He plays in the front 3 and carries minimal goal threat. He doesn't get into scoring positions and there are days where he just cannot even get a touch.

He's not a terrible player, but he doesn't suit the PL, he is extremely inconsistent and he does not justify his large wages.

I agree he doesn't suit the prem. But he's been more of a threat than, as mentioned, nearly all our other midfield/attackers with minimal game time for a while.

The only reason Iwobi plays over him, for me, is purely down to physicality. Cos it's not down to technicalities

That's not me defending him either. He needs to be gone due to the wages and the fact he's not suited to the league it's not someone we can carry.

Iwobi is a far better player, and that's the problem. Bernard has been extremely poor for a very long time. Massively overrated by our fan base and flatters to deceive. He's good at lots of things that don't effect a match. He looks pretty on the eye at times but is never in the right areas to hurt opponents.

Iwobi can't control or pass! Or cross. Or shoot.

He runs loads. That's it.

It's the classic Everton fan paradox. He doesn't score, assist or do much that alters the course of a game but because he looks like he's working hard he's sound. There's been loads on here saying Bernard is terrible but Iwobi is now somehow a vital part of the squad despite them being similarly unproductive (Iwobi has 1 goal and two assists in 17 PL appearances this season, for a supposedly attacking player. Bernard has 1 goal and 0 assists in 6 PL appearances. Pretty similar, and neither are good enough for where we want to be). Lukaku got pelters on here despite being the best striker we had had in a generation because he was "lazy", drives me nuts. Give it 6 months and they'll start on James.

It seems wrong to use his wages as a stick to beat him with. He's paid them in large part because he arrived on a free transfer. If you take Iwobi's fee alone it works out at £100,000 a week for a 5-year contract, and he'll be paid his wage on top of that.
