Maitland-Niles isn't actually in the team and Barnes and Abraham most likely aren't if it is 23 man one instead of 30. Trippier isn't my cup of tea but he's rated highly by Simeone and Southgate loves him so I'll take it. Godfrey has a lot clearer path when the last break saw England start at CB Rice, Gomez, Coady and Dier.

To be clear I don't think he has a prayer because it'll come down to him and Stones or something and Southgate will play it safe.

Nope, England have some good players, there are places in the squad open for competition though clearly, while quality of some in the squad will be perceptional and I rate Lampety, Brewster and Lookman, if you were punting, which we were.
