Beer, revisited

Our Nottingham beer group has got a provisional trip to Electric Bear brewery in Bath, and a day/night in Bristol in May sorted hopefully.

Alcyone know Electric Bear? I don't they have just offered us a tour.

New brew from Abita: spiced ale. Really interesting flavor, makes me wish I could eat crawfish again to try it out as intended.

With hints of cayenne, celery, paprika, lemon peel and bay leaves, this beer has all the savory elements of a crawfish boil.

Might have a source for this now, found an offy in Bath yesterday that stocks a few Tempest. They've had had it before, will give me a shout when they stock it again. Fingers crossed.
Neckin the Brave New World IPA at the minute:

Powerful Jedi.

Yep, sure you're get it at some point. Pretty sure I have this one in my cupboard too, not had a bad beer by them yet.

Crikey. That's not for the faint hearted.

Only had one so far, but it's really light and the flavors aren't too strong. Certainly less pungent than a strong IPA, and I reckon it would be delightful with some spicy food. Reminds me of this (which I'm sure I posted before) from St Arnold (Houston, TX). It's a black kolsch, brewed to pair with enchiladas. @Hellerad

Santo is a black Kölsch, which technically doesn’t exist as a style, but this is as close as we can come to describing it. Essentially it is brewed using a Kölsch recipe with the addition of Munich and black malt. It is light bodied and floral yet with a distinct dark malt flavor. Our goal was to create a dark yet refreshing beer that would pair perfectly with a plate of enchiladas.

That sounds ace as well.

So. My one year only drinking water lasted just over 5 months before I caved. Not too upset, as 5 months with water only is pretty decent.

Went to Memphis and tried a bunch of local brews. I was most impressed by the Ghost River Bourbon Barrel Aged Midnight Magic Stout. Was expecting a bite like other Bourbon Barrel aged stouts I've had, but this brew is smooooooth.

Also really enjoyed the Wiseacre Tiny Bomb, which is a hoppy, floral pilsner.
