Beer, revisited

Guiness or Brains SA in the Winter
Various ciders in the summer or a good Pilsner. Tend to stay away from most British larger sad they are poor
I love my Whiskey as well - at the moment Monkey Shoulder is my favourite along with a few from the Pendryn distillery in Wales.

£65, bought it off Home Brew Online on ebay.

Quite a few things come with the kit, and as I'm a complete newbie had to go through the instructions and look at some forums etc today. Loads of helpful stuff out there. Planning to start the actual brewing at some point tomorrow!
Even better. I know its only beer but this is a great short term hobby.

How many bottles will that you get out of the mix?

NW Louisiana. We have a good local brewer, Abita, and two new breweries just opened up in my town. Looking forward to sampling from Great Raft and Red River breweries. But no good locations near here to sit and watch while enjoying a beer. Not even one good pub/bar (although, that's on my list of excellent failed business ideas).

Abita Purple Haze - the sorority girl's "I really don't like beer, but I'm trying to look low maintance and like one of the boys" beer

Hated when we put that on tap at the bar. May for horrible nights - awful tippers

Three Philosophers from Ommegang. It's so, so good.

My plan is a Belgian per day until Rom signs, but the local shop is low on good Belgians so I hope he signs soon.

My favorite breweries are Ommegang, Victory, and The Duck Rabbit. Ommegang throws a great Octoberfest.

Duck Rabbit has very limited distribution but is a labor of love, started by a Philosophy Professor. The Duck-Rabbit illustration is from a book by Wittgenstein.

I'd done a couple batches and one of my best friends had it down to a smooth rotation. Per him, sanitize everything. Be almost OCD about it. Nothing will wreck your beer faster than something that wasn't sanitized properly.

Was amazed that a $30 kit, once the actual equipment was purchased, could create 48-52 bottles, depending upon how careful I was in loading up the bottles and, more importantly, capping the bottles.

Looks very nice that. Haven't seen Victory or Duck-Rabbit, but will look for them.

I know not technically a beer - but what's all the bars in towns obsession with Brooklyn Beer; Sam Adams and Blue Moon?

Brooklyn Lager & Sam Adam's Lager are still 2 very good 'gateway' beers, especially Brooklyn. And then you get into the rest of these 2 breweries portfolios and you won't be disappointed.

Blue Moon is just part of the new 'crafty' crew out there.
