Beer, revisited

I'm sure I mentioned this already, but had La Fin du Monde last night, one of my all-time favorites. An excellent beer. Not as sweet as Leffe (too sweet for me), but otherwise very similar. One of Canada's finest:

Did they? They've got a 4% one as well which is alright.

Had a bottle of Miller last night too. Not a bad beer.

MGD I'm guessing? Dunno if any other Miller branded product makes it across the pond. I prefer High Life out of their stable, which is just a pasteurized MGD, more or less.

A lot of their stuff is brewed about 5 miles away from my house, but there are so many good small craft brewers here (and elsewhere in the nation) that I rarely ever drink anything from the big American macrobreweries.

Most of my favorite beers pretty much all of you besides Layne would be unable to find. For you Eurofolks, this is one of the best beers I've ever had:

Glorious. You'll probably be able to find it at specialty liquor stores as well, fellow Yanks.

Prefer Maudite & Trois Pistoles myself with them being a lot darker and maltier. Unibroue do some really nice quaffable beers, and not a lot of duds in their portfolio.

I've actually got a La Fin du Monde from 1998 in my cellar at home. Gonna crack it this Xmas along with a bottles of Terrible from 2002 & a Terrible 11 from 2002. Also still have a few bottles left of one of the best beers Unibroue have made; Quelque Chose, all from 2002.

Only had the Trois Pistoles once, and must have had too many, can't remember the style and flavor. The Maudite took a few to get conditioned, but now it's a toss up between the two, and I honestly can't tell which I prefer. But all are great. The only one I don't like is their cidery brew (Ephemere?).

Trois Pistoles is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale, so a little clovey, sweet malt & dark fruit, loads of alcohol....kinda like drinking a xmas cake! Buying a 6 pack is dangerous ;-)

I've had the 13th Hour Stout, and was really disappointed with the first bottle. I then realised it wasn't a stout, and enjoyed the 2nd bottle so much better.
