Beer, revisited

The oldest bought me one of those brewery in box kits. Only a 5 Ltr jobbie but you have to do all the mashing, sparging, boiling and chilling yourself with the grains and all that malarkey. Bit too much fussing when your using pots on the stove and ice baths in the sink.

Got it done though and it's been fermenting and it's time for the priming this weekend so a couple of weeks I'll be getting stuck into some quite possibly rank and sediment filled dross or maybe even a pleasantly serviceable beer or two.

Got me quite intrigued by the whole thing but I think my next attempt will be one of the much simpler extract kits. Get a few of those under my belt, practice a bit of dry hopping and all the other little things you can experiment with and then might revisit All grain brewing further down the line. If the bug bites it'll be a lot easier to justify spending a bit of dough on equipment such as kettles and immersion chillers to help with the process.
