Has anyone been in The Engineer, tucked away in Arrad St behind the Casa on Hope St.
Went past it today, looks like a cracking backstreet pub.

I've been, I used to work un there before it was sold, used to be one pub, but now extended. We were made redundant over the phone, and was not allowed to collect my Everton mug ! Anyway, I've been in once, full of students when I was there, there's a nice suntrap area, the beer was very nice, but the clientele was not for my taste.Has anyone been in The Engineer, tucked away in Arrad St behind the Casa on Hope St.

Only once after a gig at Prohibition Recording Studios. I wouldn’t make a point of going back, just stick to The White HartHas anyone been in The Engineer, tucked away in Arrad St behind the Casa on Hope St.

Yes, it's all been 'gentrified ' into an archetypical pub. But the ale was ok, just seemed an artificial pub, but horses for courses.Only once after a gig at Prohibition Recording Studios. I wouldn’t make a point of going back, just stick to The White Hart
The bar near Arras Street ?Back wall by the bar.

If it's how I remember, that's where we used to cook burgers. Not many, which is probably why it closed.Yep.
The idiot owners decided to open just when the universities closed for the summer term. We were lucky to have 20 customers in the day. You sometimes wonder how these 'entrepreneurs' actually make any money.I thought the same about The Red Lion on Slater st when it first opened, like an A.I. typical old pub but I like it nowYes, it's all been 'gentrified ' into an archetypical pub. It's an interesting observation really, what makes a pub : for me, it's the beer, but there's obviously more to this. Seems a good idea for thread. I think, obviously the ale has to be good, but there's that indefinable ambience, the people, the whole je ne sais quoi. If course, it's horses for courses depending on what you're looking for on a night out.I thought the same about The Red Lion on Slater st when it first opened, like an A.I. typical old pub but I like it now
