Beer, revisited

I enjoyed this over the weekend in Ireland

Made by the good people at Guinness.

Lovely stuff.

If you had to recommend me 3 ales , what would you say?

Depends on whether its cask or bottle conditioned real ale to drink at home ?.

It's very subjective mate, as different people have different tastes.

My three favourite cask ales can also depend on the time of year : I drink light fruity ales or IPAs in the summer and drink darker stuff in the winter.

My Summer cask ales of choice in the pubs I drink in are :

Tribute - St Austell.
Cumberland - Jennings .
Wainwright - Thwaites.

Winter Cask ales :

London Pride - Fullers.
Speckled Hen - Morland.
Cumberland - Jennings ( favourite and drink it all year.

If I could get it, I'd drink Coniston Brewery's - Bluebird cask all year round too .

Favourite bottled stuff :

Copper Dragon - Skipton.
Tribute - St Austell.
Bluebird - Coniston.

These are all sold at the likes of Asda.

@ste d' indica is also a good man to ask, as he is part of the set up at a pub that has a micro brewery and certainly knows his beers !

Well that's 10 depending on what way the winds blowing ! Ha thanks for that mate.

Yeah I'm a sucker for a smart looking ale ! I know I shouldn't and you really should read the label and stuff but as I say 'Sucker'. It was lovely with a really smart balance between the bitterness and sweet , mostly chocolate and caramel I got , 8.6% so I was driving the ghost train last night!

Sounds good that mate, where can I pick one up?

Come on 3 ales!
Okey doke, 3 cask ales that have really impressed me in the last few months:

Timothy Taylor's Landlord - It's an obvious one like but if its well kept by a good landlord it's a first class beer.

Liverpool Organic Brewery - Liverpool Stout, great example of a classic style.

Siren Brewery Liquid Mistress - The most impressive beer I've had in years, complex, balanced, spicy and malty but with a fresh hop finish. Amazing beer.

Now that's more like it! Nice one mate I will look into the 1st and the 3rd one especially, had the Liverpool Stout a few times. Cheers

Every time I mention a favourite ale, it suddenly becomes popular, they go into mass production and the quality drops through the floor.

So as a result, I'm not telling anyone!

I've just lost my absolute favourite, brewed in a local ,microbrewery in Wiltshire, because the key hop it uses has been bought out by some big businessman mega brewery, and they've taken all stocks and future production for the next 5 years.
