Beer, revisited

2 boxes of peroni, a crate of fosters, litre of Jack, bottle of Gentleman Jack, box of Becks, bottle of prosecco, 2 bottle champagne. Are the people in my life trying to kill me or is my Everton disposition an indication that I often frequent a somewhat depressed state.

very nice

I don't drink beer often, but when I do I like Newcastle Brown Ale since it's got a smooth taste.

There was a beer I had when I went to Portland, Oregon earlier in the year: Workhorse. It's a IPA made by a local PDX brewing company (Laurelwood). The beer was strong, got you buzzed fairly quickly and it had a great taste.

Laurelwood make some good beers :)

That they do, as does the other major beer companies in Portland (Widmer Brothers and Portland Brewery).

Can't say the same about beer brewed in Pittsburgh. Iron City (the main beer company in Pittsburgh) has to be the most bitter tasting beer ever produced and Yuengling taste like radioactive piss, although some of the smaller beer companies like Church Brew Works, Rivertowne and Red Star make good beer.

We don't get any Boston brews in Alberta, apart from Sam Adams, and even then it's their basic line up. Would love to see some Harpoon, Smutthynose or Ipswich make it here. We do have some great beers from Maine Brewing, but they only come in twice a year.

Downloaded untappd upon arriving here 10 days ago. Been battling illness since shortly after my arrival... and still already have 25 distinct beers and 13 badges earned.

Some of my fun:

Silver Anniversary Ale - draft collaboration by Boulevard Brewing in KS and Odells out of Colorado.

Santa's Little Helper - Port Brewing. A 12% American Double Stout. Was smoove for 12%.

Deschutes - The Abyss. A limited release seasonal brew. Another Double Stout, but a svelte 11%. usually hard to find. The fancy food market near my in-laws had a stash of 60 put out just after my arrival. How nice.

And to go Gerry D, "Very Very Hop." Odells IPA, Dale's Pale Ale, Deschutes Red Chair NWPA, Ninkasi Tricerahops double IPA (Ninkasi toasted my check in), Sierra Nevada Harvest Fresh Hop, Bells Two Hearted, Hoppy Bitch double, Lagunitas IPA...
