Was talking with some friends, we all have wayyyy too many BIG stouts in our closets/refrigerators. When it gets anything resembling "cool" here we are going to do a big backyard bottle share. I have stouts aged in Pappy barrels, CBS, mega stouts from a good brewery here. Just way too much, need to start downsizing them.

The States. Virginia to be specific. It's a bit weird, this place has some TERRIFIC stouts but it's usually too hot to drink them. And the ABV of the stouts are massive, like 13-17%.

Vanilla is really underutilized in stouts imo. I know it's the bitterness that brewers want in there like the chocolate and coffee but vanilla is a really nice touch.

This is like drinking an Irish coffee with a hint of vanilla. Heaven in a glass.

The States are producing some of the best beers you can find, in my opinion, and I agree there seems to be no end of top-notch stouts. I am envious of the choices you have.
