beckford needs to play off a big man.
untill we play 2 up top he is not going to be effective...... and to do that we would have to sacrifice cahill.
 
True he has the first touch of an electric fence, but what he is really lacking is a strike partner, a buddy a chum if you were, to play off and support him. Playing as lone striker in a league much faster, stronger and demanding than one starting with Coca Cola is always going to an uphill battle. To subsitute him and replace him with Saha is just wrong. He should be joining him in the forward line - like for like doesn't work. When the games is being chased we need to go 4-4-2, be it with either Beckford/ Saha or even Beckford/ Silva, it has to be changed.

Cahill is his striker partner. What you need is a playmaker near him to thread balls through to him....

We dont have that playing.

Risk free signing. If he's good cool, if not we sell him to Newcastle. Thats what they said.

Ignore the fact that if Yak and Saha weren't fit or on form that we'd have a league 1 bum leading the line. Thats what i said.

We aren't making chances for him and he isn't making them for himself. He's out of his league so far.

Needed to be used as an impact sub not a starter.
 
bloodyhell chaps, we give foreign players a season to learn the premiership. This lad has come up two divisions, lets give him a little time to get used to it before we write him off.

The art of playing up on his own (and I take the point Cahill is supposed to get up there with him) seems to be a mystery to him. he collects the ball and turns into trouble, by and large. He just wont get that room in this division and he has to learn to lay it off. I'm not convinced either he can find space between defenders to invite a through ball to run onto as per Saha.

Time will tell.
 

If we're going to play him up front the only asset I'm getting a hint of right now is possibly being able to drag defenders wide/keep fullbacks from pinching and that's assuming a 4-4-2 from us. The up front on his own thing has got to stop, now.
 
I honestly think he'll be a massive flop.

Maybe pop one in against West Brom or something in a hard fought draw. But, nah. Not for me.

I agree that 451 for beckford is not working and he does need more time and support, However when saha came on he had a shot within 3 minutes something beckford failed to do in 55 minutes this tells me we need a quality striker now, it is what we lack at the moment the team are playing good football but we need to score goals.

Yep.

Think he'd actually be rather good in a proper strike partnership. Don't blame him for his performances so far. It's like asking me to be lone striker in the prem at your first go!! And I'm a goalkeeper!
