I dont know whether Beckford's going to hack it or not (I tend to think he'll struggle), but what I found ridiculous was Moyes comments before and after this game stressing the lad is a lower league player that he's taken a chance on and he'll see how he goes at this level etc etc.

Not exactly the words a player shouldering the burden of getting you goals wants to hear I wouldn't have thought. He bought him and that should be the end of the matter.

He can chat some some [Poor language removed] sometimes...

...cant we all. (y)

Distin was very good today, read the play well - some sexy tricks from Jerrrrrrmaaaine too

I wasn't that impressed with Beckford, but it is early and he still needs some adjustment time. He may become a serviceable premier league player but I have some doubts if he has what it takes to be a lone striker. Now if we can figure out who Saha gave his touch to this summer.

taking the piss surely? '' lid '' beckford was by far 1 of the best today when he went off we went [Poor language removed] he was the only person moving, were you's watching the same game? obviously not

I didn't watch but from reading you guys sounds like he did pretty much nothing.

But

It was his first ever Premier start. I'm still convinced he will score goals for us, but not yet. Give a chance.

I am staggered Dave if those were comments Moyes made. In the PL one cannot say that it smacks of uncertainity. To say he'll see how he goes on, for heavens sake how many years on Beckford's contract? and how long does he need? Can we keep playing him gambling with results when we are looking to find a good final spot come May? Incredible.

I'll tell you who played well.

Distin.

Distin played very well. Won everything. Made a great interception late on that could have meant a Wolves win.

If he makes a mistake, everyone starts insulting "Dustbin". So I think it's fair that when he has a great game, at least one of us should mention it.

I accept in this game he played well but look who we have played to date. Not taking his performance away from him (already upset Txbill on this in the match thread) but I see us being better with Jags and Heittnga as the cbs.

"We’ve given him a chance from the lower leagues and I keep saying that nobody is 100% sure where it’ll go, but he wanted the opportunity and I wanted to give it to him. He looks fine in training, he scores goals in training and he’ll see plenty of match time and from that we’ll decided if he’s been able to step up."

Not what I'd want to hear, to be honest. It's like he's talking about an apprentice.

Goat, we weren't at the same match!! Pienaar was [Poor language removed] as was Bily. Beckford was quiet. Hibbert WAS superb today and he deserved his MOTM; there was noone else to shout about!

By your reasoning then, we should have never sold AJ.

Running around a lot =/= good.

To be fair, Hibbo attacked well. Some really good interplay. Got mugged near the end though, defensively.

He was getting forward, putting in decent crosses and getting back defending well on the whole. A few errors but he's only human

Thought Beckford played the holding role fairly well but the striking role badly. He needs to learn to make space for himself or to shoot a ball clean through any awake defender's torso. When he had his back to goal he seemed to distribute the ball well enough to create chances, but when he tried to pull the trigger he was closed down well before a shot was ever possible.

A much much bigger concern in the attack is Bily. The man shoots when he should settle or pass and settles or passes when he should shoot. He was off the pace the whole game, had no chemistry with anybody in the attack and looked as if he were trying to kill the corner flags with half of his shots.

Pienaar was [Poor language removed] until he started getting angry and then he at least looked awake.

Hibbert worked hard (as always) but his crosses were about as effective as Bily's shots.

And the ref had quite the oral fixation. He blew so many calls I thought they'd have to censor it.
